Dear fellow students,
As a charitable company, GMIA would like to warmly congratulate you for embarking on an overseas life and advanced studies. As an organisation, we welcome you to become part of our big family. We will bring you fun, learning opportunities and above all a solid boost to your future or current job-searching.
- An official GMIA certificate is issued to award you for contribution over 100 hours. Your skills in organising, team-working, communicating and time-management will be formally and clearly recognised. Moreover, the charitable nature of GMIA will help convince your future employer that you are a responsible and conscientious social citizen.
- Being a member of GMIA, you will be provided with plenty of networking opportunities with artists, conservationists, businesses, universities, governments, and media, etc. Equally importantly, this wide social exposure will help you adjust quickly to the work place once you start a full-time job.
- Two major communicating tools for GMIA are English and Chinese; therefore, by working with us, your bilingual advantage will be fully utilized and strengthened.
- GMIA is serving as a bridge between China and the international world, which enhances members’ cultural awareness and international perspectives.
- Where there is enough interest, GMIA will organise career-oriented workshops, trainings and seminars to equip you with valuable information and necessary skills for future job market competition.
- It brings you the most up-to-date information on the developments in the remote areas in China and keeps you connected with them, providing especially rewarding experiences for Chinese students and graduates currently overseas and for those seeking opportunities of learning the Chinese language, cultures and economic development.
- It will keep you connected with China, with often the most remote and the border areas far from the cosmopolitan cities, providing otherwise rarely available insight into the challenges China is facing and the opportunities of reaching out your hands to make good things happen.
- After the first 30 hours of committed work for GMIA, you may start to understand better your life goals, develop an ability to inspire others and to see from the businesses' and the society's perspectives, choose your career path or fields of further study rather than being passively chosen, see the big picture and see where you fit best so as to bring the best out of yourself to do the most for the world.
- Last but not least, GMIA will keep you abreast with the future, because the major topic for the next ten years or more is sustainable development such as promoting clean energy and reflecting upon the human’s impact on the planet.
One example of our projects is helping conservationists and communities in China to apply for SEED award supporting entrepreneurs for sustainable development (http://www.seedinit.org/).
- GMIA brings you closer to the heartbeat of China;
- it brings you closer to people who deserve your care -- those who have never quitted their homeland despite the poverty and the remoteness and keep their traditions alive;
- it brings you closer to the technologies, policies and businesses in the field of sustainable development;
- it brings you closer to well-respected corporations with a definite devotion to their social responsibilities; and
- it brings you closer to the other members of GMIA who share the same visions, many of which are professionals with beautiful personalities and qualities who may become your friends and mentors in your future development.
In sum, GMIA is right for you, good for you and for your future!
