If longevity has been one of the most aspired forms of happiness throughout the oriental history, why not grant a day more, a year more, even a millennium more, to the birds that have always lifted our spirit and will lift those of our children’s?
Grus for “crane” and monacha for “crown”, this secretive and heavenly bird carries blessings of longevity and of life-long companionship in Japan and China yet is rarely seen by humans except in art works.
千纸鹤-明天会更好 — 1 pen + 1 crane = 1 child’s dream takes wings
One of GMIA’s objects is to advance “green” education in rural China. GMIA is inviting every dinner guest to take this chance to bring a small present and an optional greeting card for a school-age child in China (example: a pen). Your good wishes, accompanied by origami cranes, are to take their flight to schools in the hometown of Hooded Cranes and schools in the region of the highest lake in the world (Lake Namtsu). It will plant a seed of love, a seed of positive changes for tomorrow.
