Great Bustard Otis tarda, facing a dramatic depopulation in China, is known as the heaviest land-bird that is able to fly.
Distribution of Great Bustard in China:
Heilongjiang, Jilin, Liaoning, Inner-Mongolia, Beijing, Tianjin, Hebei, Henan, Shandong, Shan1xi, Shan3xi, Hunan, Hubei, Jiangxi, Xinjiang, Anhui, Fujian, Jiangsu, Ningxia.
Attendees and/or speakers:
Government officials from Dept. of Wildlife Conservation of the above provinces and regions, representatives of NGOs, ornithologists, managers and chief research officers of nature reserves, graduate students and researchers from universities in Beijing, government officials from the State Forestry Administration of China.
Cost: registration is free; hotels cost RMB260-690 (£30- £70) /day with free internet; cab fare from the airport (PEK) is around RMB100 (£10).
